Written on . By Tracy Mah
Do you ever get frustrated trying to find the right column in the Columns dialog box? It almost feels impossible when you are opening and closing a labyrinth of categories and columns to find the columns you want. In this article, we will show you how to use the Group and Sort By function to change the Columns dialog box from using Categories to a single List of columns in alphabetical order, making it easier to find the column you want!
STEP 1: OPEN THE COLUMNS DIALOG BOX.
The first step to customizing the columns on your Activity Table is to open the Columns dialog box. To do this, click on the Columns icon on the Toolbar > Customize.
You’ll notice that the Columns are automatically grouped into categories, which makes it difficult to find the columns you want unless you know exactly where they are located.
STEP 2: CHANGE THE GROUP AND SORT BY FROM CATEGORIES TO LIST
There are three simple steps to change Available Options list from categories to an alphabetical list:
- Click on the Available Options Bar.
- Hover over Group and Sort By.
- Click List.
STEP 3: SCROLL THE LIST TO FIND COLUMNS
Scroll up and down the list to find the columns you need. Use the left and right arrows to move columns between the Available Options and Selected Options. Once the Selected Options columns are in the correct order (use the up and down arrows), click OK.
Changing the Group and Sort By from Categories to List can be very helpful when you are unsure of where the columns are located. Hopefully this quick tip can save you some time when you are customizing layouts!
